i get that question a lot.

1. I use it to play super mario bros on my computer.
2. I have it set up to trigger MIDI notes through Ableton. I use the buttons to Trigger Vocal cues for the band. Currently, they are set up to trigger a cue that says "ONE" or "FOUR"... stating which chord we are ending the song on.

Controller

And you can hit those buttons with your feet???????? insane, would love to see that in action.

And as a side note, thanks for all you are doing in the world of loops. You are the person who has pushed me over the edge to start using them! Waiting on my ability controller (hopefully baron is getting better) and cant wait to to get to using the loops ive made! Any words to wise when it comes to integrating this technology into worship would be great! Keep up the innovation and God Bless!

thanks man.. i'm glad you jumped into the loop world.
I actually have the controller set up to only trigger 2 buttons. All of the small buttons on the right all trigger the same function. All of the directional buttons trigger another function. That way, I can't miss it. :)
glad you are a part of the community!

So hows the soft step? Is it worth having both? Advantages over the aBility???? Your thoughts oh lord of the loops :)

I'm enjoying the softstep... It was a little tricky at first to figure out progamming, but once it's programmed it works like a charm. We made a preset that makes the controller function just like the aBility. Currently, I'm using the softstep to control band director cues, and the aBility to launch the loops. pretty cool combo.

Hmmmm, so soft step is usb

Hmmmm, so soft step is usb right? I only have 1 midi port on my motu and the ability takes it. I can see having a fixed set of cues either vocal or like ambient pads for different keys (like one for A, and G and C etc.) always set could be really useful. SOooooo enticing!

Ok so dumb question of the day....if you trigger something from the soft step will it not interrupt what you have already cued from the ability controller? I am not the smartest when it comes to ableton, so how will both tracks be running at the same time????

good question. the softstep

good question. the softstep is triggering individual clips, no scenes. I have the clips set to Toggle mode, which essentially turns them on and off. You can do that while another track is playing.
The only other complication you could have would be if you are trying to assign a MIDI note that has already be assigned. There are 127 notes available, so I have the softstep set up to use notes 90 - 127, and the aBility uses 1 - 90

I'm curios to hear how you are using the Duet. The apogee hardware seems very solid but I don't see a lot of people using it live. Just wondering how your experience has been and is it worth the money they seem to be pretty pricey. Looks sweet tho and they sound great.

I do a lot of music

I do a lot of music production and mixing so I mainly use it for that at home. It just made sense to use it live as well since I already had it. The breakout box works perfect for that, so I can leave the stock cables plugged into everything at home.

Keyboard Loop Rig

Here's my live rig:

M-Audio Keystation Pro88 w/Auturia Analog Factory Keys
M-Audio Firewire 410 for Tracks/Loops Stereo feed and click seperate to monitors
Yamaha Motif and Korg Triton Sound Generators
MacBook running Reason 6 and Ableton Intro

I mix everything on the Yamaha MG12/4. I use mains for keys and Subgroup out for loops. Click runs directly to the monitor board. Everything is MIDI chained. It's bee a lot of work but it works really well.

Hope you all like?

thanks
